She said "i was being tenacious and saying 'no, wait a minute. This is a different representation of what African beauty is. I has begun to feel confortable in my own skin. I never thought I'd had be model." She also said she live in the skin of a white person and spoken out about the hardship and stigma engured growing up as an abino in South Africa.
In 1999,Modiselle was just 13 years old when she was first approched to do a five-page shoot for a youth aiming to showcase how the African landscape would change with the turn of the millenium. It was her first taste fashion, but she got the bug. it wouldcnt be untill she finished her higher school education and entered college that Modiselle found herself on front of camera again. In addition Modissele doesn't just have to live with the unspoken threat of discrimination hanging in the air. Born in Soweto, the feisty, young model has, at times, struggled with her identity.Cementing her status as a household name, she also spends one day a week filming a current affairs talk show with fellow South African television personalities Masechaba Lekalake and comedian Tol Ass Mo. Participation in the show allows Modiselle to reveal more of her personality to the country and to show she's moore than just a clothes horse. Though she's not even-30, Modissele is already thinking about her legacy. She added " I will teach through the things that i do. My plan for the future is just to grow myself as a brand and as an identity: to touch the world in different places and to be able to be huge representative for Africa"
Even though South Africa has far higher tha average number of albinos in its pupulace there is still widespread prejudice. Many albino has been killed for their organs in medicine killing as they are believed in healing powers.
In June 2011 a young albino Sibisuso Nhateve, 14 years old was kidnapped and is believed to have been murdered as part of a tribunal killing. Despite these abstacles Modiselle has mad phenomenal success in her career already. She is the only albino model to have walked the catwalk in South Africa, a mante she achieved walking in a David Tlale Show in 2005, and has been signed with top international model agency Ayana Africa Model Management. Modiselle, who has wear sunscreen religiously to protect her skin, hopes to use her name and new found self-confidence to fight against albinos. She said " I hope to inspire many people, regardlesss of race or colour"
